Wet Felting with Naturally Dyed Fleece

Learn about plants and techniques which can be used in natural dyeing to create a stunning array of colours. The beauitful colours which can be made from foraged plants, including; Nettles, Meadowsweet, Braken, Ragwort, fungi and tree bark. As well as the ancient colours which came from overseas such as Madder, Turmeric, Logwood and Indigo. Use natural Cheviot, Shetland and Merino fleece along with your samples of naturally dyed coloured fleece to create a design. Wet felt your design using water, soap and friction. A timeless craft using ancient techniques.

Gingerbread biscuits are a delightful and delicious Christmas tradition In this workshop you will join International Chocolatier Fiona Sciolti to make an unusual gingerbread garland, perfect for any tree (if you can resist it for that long!) Fiona will guide you through the process of decorating these warmly spiced gingerbread bakes, finished and tied with a beautiful ribbon and presented in a matching hand tied gift bag.
Country Christmas Straw Heart

In this workshop you will be introduced to the beautiful craft of Straw Work. Straw is a lovely material to use and yet it is a material that is often overlooked. During the class Elaine will be using wheat straw and will show you how to work a traditional straw plait. You will then turn your plaits into a lovely heart shaped decoration which will be finished off with berries, greenery and ribbon. This workshop is suitable for all abilities.
Festive Love Hearts

What is the collective noun for hearts? A love? A hug? A warmth? Well, Fi Oberon is kindly making all of these for us bringing festive cheer to the show and into your homes. Join Fi and embroider festive words onto a heart to display in your home or gift to a loved one this Christmas. You will choose from a selection of threads, textures and colurs and give shape to the words using the very simple couch stitch. This workshop is great way to make name tags and decorations and to share the joy of the season.
Christmas Tree Felting

Join Fi Oberon as she shows you how to create a charming Christmas tree from felt. With 30 years’ experience as a designer and tutor Fi combines simple techniques to marvellous effect in ways we can all achieve. Fi uses these principles in her design work for a charity in Nepal enabling women to earn a living wage producing high quality felt products for the western market. Fi’s enthusiasm for felting and the project in Nepal are infectious and a great addition to our Christmas Fair.

The workshops at the Country Living Fairs are always very popular so, in the interest of fairness, we operate an admission system for attending these sessions.
There are 40 standard places and 10 VIP places per workshop.
Tokens are given on a first come first served basis, 30 minutes before the start of the session.
All tokens are free of charge.
Tokens cannot be transferred to other sessions.
To attend you must collect a token in advance of the workshop from the desk at the entrance to the Craft & Create Room.
– After each session all visitors must leave the room before admittance for the following session begins. Therefore, you will not be allowed to stay in your seat.
