There is no end to the things you can learn to do at the fair. Challenge your creativity by learning something new and having fun in the process.
With sessions tailored to any ability, you’ll be able to learn from experts in felting, chocolate-making, printing and more.
The workshops at the Country Living Fairs are always very popular so, in the interest of fairness, we operate an admission system for attending these sessions.
There are 40 standard places and 10 VIP places per workshop.
Tokens are given on a first come first served basis, 30 minutes before the start of each session.
All tokens are free of charge.
Tokens cannot be transferred to other sessions.
To attend you must collect a token in advance of the workshop from the desk at the entrance to the Craft & Create Room.
You may only collect a maximum of 2 tokens per person per session.
After each session all visitors must leave the room before admittance for the following session begins. Therefore, you will not be allowed to stay in your seat.

Paper Garlands - the perfect way to upcycle colourful scraps and offcuts to make something gorgeous and seasonal, using the simplest of techniques and shapes. Christmas themed papers are the obvious choice but old text books and sheet music can look stunning. Garlands can also be hung vertically as well as horizontally, they can be sewn and they can even be made with string and glued! Come and gave a go at making a mini garland– you will love it!
Stamp Making and Printing

Attendees to Ellen’s workshop will be shown how to make their own stamps for printing on card or fabric and use Christmas-themed pre-made stamps to decorate either a fabric bag or a fabric coaster. Bag and coaster decoration workshops could be run on alternate days.
Christmas Ice Skate

Ice-skating at Christmas has to be one of the most magical experiences of the festive season. Slipping and sliding through a winter wonderland and holding hands with loved ones whilst all wrapped up in cosy hats and scarves. Create your own keepsake decoration to hang in your home to remind you of those magical moments. Flossy will show you how to paint your ceramic shape, add the glistening blade, lace up your boot with stripy string and attach felt holly for the finishing touch! It’s the perfect addition for a Happy Handmade Christmas.
Crazy Christmas Trees

During Hilary Jane’s workshop she will show you how to make a Crazy Christmas Tree, using pieces of festive fabric and simple stitching (no sewing experience required ! ). These Christmas Trees make beautiful decorations and gifts for those special people – everyone loves a handmade gift, especially at Christmas.

These small houses make beautiful Christmas decorations and gifts for those special people – everyone loves a handmade gift, especially at Christmas.
Flower Bath Bomb Making

Join Wild Harvest to learn how to make your own 100% natural bath bombs, make a floral cupcake bath bomb to take away. (I could get orange/spice type essential oils to make it more ‘Christmassy’). During this session participants will learn: The basic natural chemical ingredients, recipe for mixing and reactions of ingredients. How to blend scents and colours to create their own individual bath bomb’s at home.
Di Hammill is really passionate about empowering women to make their own body products for health, economy and fun!
Yorkshire based Diana has operated Wild Harvest since 2006, initially teaching basket weaving, rag-rugging, wild food and beeswax products (candles and ointments) but lately expanding this to a whole range of self-reliance crafts including leather-work, permaculture, wild beauty, natural bee-keeping and hen keeping.

Beeswax Hand Rolled Candles

Visitors will learn how to produce a pack of three hand-rolled candles using foundation beeswax sheets and cotton wick finishing off with packaging them using hessian twine and a vintage style luggage label.
Festive Love Hearts

What is the collective noun for hearts? A love? A hug? A warmth? Well, Fi Oberon is kindly making all of these for us bringing festive cheer to the show and into your homes. Join Fi and embroider festive words onto a heart to display in your home or gift to a loved one this Christmas. You will choose from a selection of threads, textures and colurs and give shape to the words using the very simple couch stitch. This workshop is great way to make name tags and decorations and to share the joy of the season.
Christmas Tree Felting

Join Fi Oberon as she shows you how to create a charming Christmas tree from felt.
With 30 years’ experience as a designer and tutor Fi combines simple techniques to marvellous effect in ways we can all achieve. Fi uses these principles in her design work for a charity in Nepal enabling women to earn a living wage producing high quality felt products for the western market. Fi’s enthusiasm for felting and the project in Nepal are infectious and a great addition to our Christmas Fair.
