2017 is a year of embracing the senses and driving us towards a more multifunctional, tactile and adventurous path in interior design. Calm yet bold, delicate yet industrial, strong yet fragile – these are a few words that embody the feel for this year. Susanna will discuss how our boundaries are being tested in the way we use material, texture and colour to achieve a dramatic, showstopping design. It's not necessarily all about contradictions but more about bravery in design. Susanna Hall has over 10 years’ experience in interior design. She specialises in both residential interior design and International Luxury Hospitality, having worked previously with leading hotels in the UK and Europe including The Dorchester, London and The Imperial Hotel, Vienna. She has worked with clients internationally across Hong Kong, Russia, Australia and the Bahamas. Susanna has a degree in Textiles Design and has a passion for colour. Susanna is Head of Interior Design at Mark Taylor Design.

Mark will talk through 20 years of the changing use of kitchen space, design and colour and explore what is new in 2017, looking at what is expected for the future in modern spaces. Then lastly, he will share the secrets of how designers approach turning a space into a homeowner’s dream kitchen. Having gained a degree in furniture production and management, Mark Taylor won a furniture scholarship to visit America to study some of the leading American furniture factories. After 10 years in the furniture industry, Mark represented the UK British Standard for EU regulations on nursery furniture. Mark set up his own company, Mark Taylor Design in 1996. Mark Taylor Design is a British manufacturer of superlative bespoke furniture, cabinetry and specialist joinery. Their passion is to make spaces work – to create extraordinary spaces, which are as personally resonant and relevant to their users as possible.

Shaking Up Breakfast

Spoon Cereals launched as London’s first breakfast cereal pop-up at a small food fair in September 2013. The founders are sister and brother-in-law, Annie and Jonny, who spent their days making homemade granolas. They served them with a menu of fresh toppings at food markets, music festivals and train stations. The excitement surrounding this new concept and the granola they were making gave them the confidence to appear on the BBC TV programme, Dragons’ Den. Annie and Jonny explain just what it takes to provide everyone with a better breakfast and a good reason to jump out of bed in the morning. About Annie & Jonny: After working as a creative in the advertising industry in central London for two years, Annie decided to test her idea for London’s first breakfast cereal pop-up bar. Prior to setting up Spoon, Jonny lived in both London and Amsterdam, where he worked in investment. After far too much time spent thinking about working for himself, he is very happy to finally be doing do.
