Once again the Orkney Village will be at the Fair showcasing the outstanding craftsmanship of many of the islands’ artisans and their beautifully-made products. On display will be a dazzling array of handcrafted jewellery, textiles, knitwear and furniture each carrying the ‘Made in Orkney’ seal of approval, guaranteeing authenticity. Very few of these unique items are available in high street shops, so if you’re looking for a special Christmas present that you won’t see anywhere else, head for the Orkney Village upstairs on the gallery level.

With a passion for her island environment Sheila creates her original jewellery designs reflecting nature’s wonderful sea, sky and landscape colours. Orkney’s history and folklore are also a rich medium for her inspiration. Following her graduation from Edinburgh College of Art she worked 26 years as a designer in the trade before setting up on her own in 1993 and throughout her career she has won many design awards in both Britain and Europe.

Lizza and Jenna Hume began by designing and knitting interior accessories such as cushions and throws, however, the cushions began to grow straps and they now we make bags, scarves, hats and garments as well. All the Hume Sweet Hume products are made with natural fibres. Lambswool and silk blends are sourced in the Scottish Borders with the luxury yarns, such as mohair, imported from Italy.
