THE weather’s getting colder, but that doesn’t stop little Poppy and her faithful dog, Fred, from heading off on their latest adventure.
Donning a petticoat for extra warmth (and a snug coat for Fred), Poppy is organising a tea party for all of her friends, kicking up leaves in the woods or paying a visit to her beloved Aunt Eva – all in stories which play out around the hem or across the fabric of every dress.
Each outfit comes with a storybook telling the tale of Poppy and Fred’s newest exploits.
Rich navies and bright reds are this childrenswear and gift firm’s forté, with a dress collection made from beautiful cotton twill, natural linens and knitted cotton that withstand the wear and tear of little girls at play all day long.
Designer Bryony Richardson gives Poppy’s trademark nostalgic innocence a contemporary twist – a Pippi Longstocking for the 21st century.
“We know that little girls love to dress as little girls,” she said. “But with our hardwearing fabrics, they can play like little girls too. Our fun dresses are made to last and be handed on.”
There are three fabrics to choose from across various styles and colourways – including versatile reversible skirts and dresses. Choose also from a range of stripey tights, gorgeous smocked blouses, snug knitted cotton cardigans, dresses and coats – and fancy frilly petticoats.
Also new this Autumn/Winter is the launch of Poppy’s adult collection: beautifully tailored dresses in two of the firm’s most popular prints. Inspired by 1950s shapes, these dresses are uncomplicated, flattering classics.
In addition to clothing for babies, boys and girls aged up to seven – and now women too – Poppy also has a range of accessories such as pajamas, little purse bags, berets and bootees, colouring books, greetings cards and invitations, and mugs.
Aimed at creating a wonderful world of innocent fun, the brand takes children on a magical journey of play and adventure, drawing inspiration from the bygone eras and authors that influenced Bryony when she was growing up.
