The aspiration of Choice of Scandinavia is to bring Scandinavian trends to your home. They choose their products with great care  where fine quality and sustainability are key factors. To find out how it all started, the inspiration behind the company and future plans, read our interview with Ewa from Choice of Scandinavia.

How did it all start?

We were 3 expat Swedes living in the UK who constantly got compliments for our interior decorations at home, and so in 2015 we decided to form a small company and import our favourite Scandinavian products. We quickly realised that Scandinavian interior design is popular in the UK and our company is constantly growing!

The story behind the name…

Simple! All of our products are carefully selected by us, and are a representation of our favourite Scandinavian trends – It is simply the Choice of Scandinavia!

Where are you based?

We are currently based in Cobham, Surrey, where we have our Showroom and warehouse.

What inspires you?

Our aspiration is to find products that make your home feel cosy yet stylish. We want your home to feel like a safe haven where you can spend time with family and friends. Scandinavian design is all about the cosy factor – hygge – and we try to keep our products in line with this.

What is your creation process?

Travelling around Scandinavia and seeing the latest trends!

What makes you, your brand or products unique?

Everyone that works for Choice of Scandinavia is indeed Scandinavian, and all of our products are from Scandinavia. We also select products based on sustainability.

What is your next project?

Selecting products for the Autumn/Winter 2019 at Formex, Stockholm. We are hoping to find products that will create a real “Nordic Christmas” feeling.

What are your plans for the next 12 months?

Hopefully our Web shop will grow and we will ship more products around the globe and share the Scandinavian style! We are hoping to partake in more Charity events – we currently work very closely with “Cardiac Risk in the Young” charity and hope that we can help support them further in the next year.

What is your biggest achievement?

Turning Choice of Scandinavia from a small idea among friends into a growing company that now spreads smiles across the UK.

What is your best-selling product/line?

Our Winter best seller has been the handmade Nordic santas from “Åsa’s Tomtebod” in red, white and grey! During the spring and summer it would have to be the Mateus handmade ceramics in all colours.

What do you love about Country Living Fairs?

Coming to face to face with our customers who love interior design as much as we do! In the past we have met people from all over the UK during the Country living fairs! The relaxed atmosphere makes it very easy to chat to customers as well as fellow exhibitors about what inspires us.

Your three top tips for crafters and makers…

When it comes to Scandinavian design, we believe that “less is more” – We love selecting a fabulous centrepiece to build your idea around. We also don’t believe in having to change your entire home to make it cosy, small tweaks here and there can make all the difference. And last but not least, we think it is best to invest in good quality sustainable products that will last you a lifetime!

Any advice for fledgling businesses

With the risk of being a cliché, don’t give up, and don’t be afraid to try something new – It took us a while to find our niche and what sort of events worked for us. Country living is a great example of a perfect fit for us!
