Tell us a little bit about your work…

 

Dr Jackson’s Skincare and Wellness is a sustainable, plant-powered, science-led cosmetics company from the UK that creates natural skincare products and organic herbal teas. The formulations are clean, safe, and, most importantly, effective. Our vegan and cruelty-free certified products are developed for all skin types and created for all genders.

How did it all start?

 

Dr Jackson’s Skincare launched in 2012 by way of Sub-Saharan Africa and London’s Shoreditch. But our story started way back. The medicinal plant knowledge that we draw on can be traced back centuries. Fascinated by the power of nature from a young age, our founder, pharmacognosist, Dr S. J. Jackson, embarked on a successful career as a scientist and spent over two decades studying indigenous plants and their uses in traditional medicines, including Kigelia, the “sausage tree” found in Sub-Saharan Africa, whose fruit has long been revered by local tribes for its incredible medicinal properties. It was this that sparked his dream to establish a forward-thinking skincare brand based on natural remedies that have stood the test of time. From academic research positions at King’s College, University of London, and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, he became an avid student who went far beyond the lab, traveling the world and learning from tribal communities, under knowledgeable shamans and healers in the Amazon, Indonesia, and Sub-Saharan Africa.


Back in the UK, Dr Jackson devoted himself to testing the efficacy of these super-ingredients in the lab. It was this period, spent living among creatives in East London, that played an important role in shaping our stylish aesthetic: minimal and sustainable packaging, gender-neutral, for all skin types and all age groups. Immersing himself around artists, doers, thought leaders, and changemakers, while consolidating his expert scientific knowledge, motivated Dr Jackson to create the eponymous range of unique skincare and wellness products.

Today, our company stays true to its original vision and ethos under the direction of the lead scientist, Kristijana Durakic, in her role as Scientific Officer. A professional in Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, and Biomedicine, Durakic works in a team with other scientists and formulation experts, continuing the brand’s natural product development, supported by cutting-edge research, clinical trials, and consumer studies.

What inspires you?

 

As a brand we are inspired by the power of nature combined with science, which allows us to create effective skincare for everyone and to bring solutions to skin problems. Our customer’s healthy glowing skin and the smile on their faces, continue to inspire us every day.

What is your creation process?  

 

It starts by studying the efficacy and historical / traditional uses of medicinal plants that have brought health benefits for centuries – or new ones that scientific evidence prove that have benefits to the skin or wellbeing. The key ingredients selected, each bring a solution: anti-inflammatory, hydrating, elasticising, calming, etc., and we work in team with our formulation experts to develop natural skincare that can also address skin conditions such as acne, eczema, rosacea, inflammation, with clinical trials and consumer studies to support our claims. All this making sure that our ingredients are sustainably and ethically sourced, working and supporting global communities harvesting the land.

What makes you and your brand so unique?

 

We are a “Doctor brand” and pioneers in the clean beauty and wellness space. Since we were born – over a decade ago, our ethos and mission has remained the same: Dr Jackson’s uniqueness and core value in the current “trendy” clean and green beauty space, relies on being the transparent and holistic therapist, bringing the natural and clean solution, supported by scientific evidence, to all skin concerns. What is your next project?

 

We are excited to announce the launch of Dr Jackson’s INTENSE RESTORING EYE CREAM. A nutrient-rich, smooth, and silky cream with Bidens Pilosa extract – a bio-retinol prized as a powerful botanical proven to reduce the effects of skin ageing and photo-ageing, smoothing fine lines, and reducing pigmentation.

What is your biggest achievement?

 

Awards from competitions aside, such us “Best Eye Firming Product” and “Eco Brand of the Year” (3 years in arow at The Shortlist Beauty Awards), our loyal and happy repeated customers who have been with us throughout our journey and the growing Dr Jackson’s Family who are always there supporting us, remain our biggest achievement.

  • Dr Jackson’s 05 Face and Eye Essence and 07 Face Wash are our top-selling products:
  • 05 Face and Eye Essence A hydrating and toning gel for the face and around the eyes, with Aloe and Damask Rose flower water to instantly bring a tired complexion back to life.
  • 07 Face Wash A gentle and sulphate-free face wash with pomegranate fruit extract and lemon and mandarin peel oils that deeply cleanses without striping skin from its own moisture.

For 2024, Country Living are partnering with iconic sister brand, Good Housekeeping, to bring a fabulous new and enriched festive experience to the London Christmas Fair. Good Housekeeping is the UK’s biggest lifestyle magazine brand for women and in 2022 launched its own, annual Christmas weekend festival, Good Housekeeping Live.

Good Housekeeping Live with the Country Living Christmas Market will take place at the Business Design Centre from 13th – 16th November 2024.
